I really don't know how to feel about this. Nobody will beat Lon Chaney, Jr. in my opinion - and the Benicio Del Toro version (2010) was well-done, but still did not capture the original magic - especially since they used CGI a lot of the time. And do we really need yet another remake now just 12/13 years after the latest incarnation? Nothing against Gosling, I'm sure he'll do a fine job - I just don't see the public clamoring for this. Plus, the Universal Pictures "Monsterverse" has already been declared DOA. So... what's the point? This is going to have to be so exceedingly original with hyper-realistic (i.e. "practical" ) effects if they expect to get a box-office hit and possible franchise. =
